A very full day today...

Visit to the therapist, visit to the doctor, lunch at Pizza Johns, trip to Target, trip to Home Depot, home to watch The King's Speech, then off to bed.  We're a little worn out.

The visit to the therapist went very well.  She's still super enthused about his progress.  She's not feeling any skin pulling while she stretches his hands out and that's great!  She had him work on a machine today that had him twisting his hands in different ways.  There were three exercises.  One looked like a steering wheel, the next a door knob and the third was an oversized key.  A gentleman that was there for therapy told me that Stew could just throw the oversized key out the window - he apparently doesn't like that exercise.  The more people Stew and I meet in therapy, the more we see just how blessed we are that this wasn't worse.  I mean it's bad, don't get me wrong, but seeing these folks at therapy and seeing what they're dealing with, we know someone was watching over us that day.

The doctor had good news and bad news.  The good news is that everything is healing well and on schedule.  The bad news is there are still areas on Stew's right hand that are open.  The doctor won't release him to go back to work until these areas are closed.  That means another two weeks.  Stew was not happy about this.  He's getting a little impatient and a lot stir crazy.  Other good news, we now only have to bandage that one open area on his right hand, everything else can stay open and just get lotioned with Eucerin 3-4 times a day.  Stew was fitted for compression gloves that he'll have to wear for some time.  Stew could have gotten his gloves in all different colors.  I suggested floral.  He didn't find that funny.  He got them both in black.  Shocking, right?

We had plans to go to lunch following the doctor's visit, but we weren't sure we could go considering that the person who wrapped Stew's hands had no idea what she was doing.  She wrapped his right hand so much you couldn't see his fingers.  Eating would be problematic.  I should have just taken the supplies away from her and wrapped them myself.  I mean, seriously.  We still headed to lunch.  We went to Pizza Johns.  Stew ate his pizza with his left hand.

On the way home from lunch, we saw a semi for a casket maker.  The slogan said, "experts in hardwood."  Of course, Stew had to chime in with, "that's because all of their clients are a little stiff."  Goodness where does he come up with this stuff?

Wanting to keep Stew out of the house for as long as possible, we went to Target where we picked up some new Wii games, some movies, and got WTK's birthday present.  He's coming down on Sunday, so we want to be ready to celebrate.

We bought a Wii game for GEP as well.  I can't wait to give it to him.  Wipe Out is his favorite show on tv - something about dumb people doing stupid things and hurting themselves - yup, this kid is definitely a part of our family.  Now they have Wipe Out the Wii game - I can't wait to see GEP's face.

After Target it was off to the Home Depot.  We picked up the cabinet that needs to be installed before the microwave can go in.  On sale - score!  We're ordering appliances tomorrow, so maybe by next week we'll have a fully functional kitchen once again.

One of the movies we bought at Target was The King's Speech.  We had both heard lots of good things about this movie and were interested in seeing it.  Stew thought it was pretty good.  I thought it dragged a bit but was funny in parts and told a good story.

After the movie was over, we were done.  The day was long and tiring.  All of this doing nothing really tires you out.  It was upstairs to do some bandaging and off to bed.
