After a morning spent fighting like only young siblings can, they settled down to play together.
Howdie Family and Friends - here are the going ons in the life of me. Stew shows up frequently. My family and friends visit a lot. My nieces and nephews are represented throughout. It's all about me and how I'm traveling along in this thing I call my life.

Journal: January 1, 2013
Let's see...if I had to pick one idea that summarized today, it would be that I'm damn glad that my siblings and I are older and that we no longer hate each other. Oh, I'm sure there were times when we acted just as SMP and EAP did today, in fact, I'm positive of it, but it's so strange to see it from the other side.
To say that these two woke up in bad moods is an understatement. EAP didn't sleep all that well last night and as he was playing this morning before his sister got up - he wrote in her Doc McStuffins symptom journal and boy, when I say she wasn't happy about it, I'm not kidding in the least.
Here she is at the dining room table showing her displeasure and look at Uncle Stew - no sympathy.
She was going around telling everyone that she hated Eli. Meli told her that she didn't mean that, to which SMP replied, "You can't tell me what the feelings in my head are - I tell you what the feelings in my head are." They don't call her the little lawyer for nothing. She went on to say lots of other things about her brother and her thoughts on the subject. Here are a few:
"I don't want a brother in my family."
"I hate brothers."
"I never wanted a brother. I can still push him out of this family."
I asked EAP his thoughts. I said, "Do you love your sister?" He said, "No."
I asked her if SMP if she wanted me to take EAP home with me. She told me no, she wanted to go home with me. I guess it has something to do with the pool. LOL.
I think if my brothers and I sat down and thought about our childhood, we could recall days just like this.
It all worked out in the end, though. They ended the night hugging and playing together.
If they are anything like us, they're going to realize one day how important brothers and sisters are and how much they can add to your life, even if they did draw in your Doc McStuffins book when they were 2.
Meli and I headed to Walmart where I picked up some more toys for the kids. SMP got a lot of the same things for Christmas from us as she did from Santa so I wanted to make that right. The kids were very happy with their new gifts and spent a good portion of the rest of the day playing with them. Since SMP is always playing with EAP's remote control cars, we found her one of her own. It's LaLaLoopsie - whatever the heck that thing is. She loved it.
SMP also got more puzzles. These were more challenging - up to 100 pieces, since she had the Doc McStuffins ones we got her put together in like 15 minutes. She got daddy down on the floor to help her put them together. They finished putting one together and I said, "How many pieces was that?" Shawn said that it was 100. I told him it looked a little small for 100 pieces. He said, "It is every bit of 100 pieces." Don't take away his man card.
Don't move the cars off the couch. They have to be in perfectly straight lines. It doesn't matter if no one has anywhere to sit - the cars will not be moved.
SMP had to show us her touchdown dance, too. It very much looked like gangnam style. Every time she found a piece of the puzzle, she would get up and do her touchdown dance. Her dad told her that was going to be about enough of gangnam style.
And wearing my cool, new slippers.
EAP and Stew - giving hugs...
And making faces at each other....
And the kids showing us their favorite funny face...

One really funny story about EAP. I told him I was going to beat his popo - he told me only mommy does that. So I told him to let Mommy do it. He walked over to her and bent over so she could do it. Crazy kid.
Stew spent a lot of time playing ball with EAP. EAP has quite the arm - catching is still a bit of an issue, but damn, that boy can throw.
He was doing his touchdown signal with one arm - we had to fix that. Taught him that touchdown is two arms. He has it down now.
SMP had to show us her touchdown dance, too. It very much looked like gangnam style. Every time she found a piece of the puzzle, she would get up and do her touchdown dance. Her dad told her that was going to be about enough of gangnam style.
The kids spent I would say almost an hour playing with noise putty. Oh the fun that can be had with fart putty by adults and kids alike. There's a video of this on smugmug if you're interested in watching it.
Besides hanging out and playing with the kids, we had a wonderful dinner. Meli made soup - delicious. And mostly we just hung out and talked and watched a lot of college football - my favorite! NOT!
Some more pictures from the day.
Sara relaxing on the couch playing games on my phone.
And wearing my cool, new slippers.
EAP and Stew - giving hugs...

Great first day of the new year. Long drive home tomorrow. Not looking forward to that. Going to miss my kids a whole lot. Won't see them again to EAP's birthday in March.

Journal: September 3, 2012
Woke up this morning at 7:30 with a terrible headache. I took some Aleve and it went away, thank goodness. I was so not in the mood to deal with a migraine today.
I went down to the craft room and got caught up on my internet reading and started to tackle the Project Life layouts for those two weeks in June that I've been avoiding. We did so much stuff that week, it's hard to condense it this way. Sigh.
I was kind of tired this morning - like, 5 hour energy drink tired and it was rainy outside so our plans to go the Fair or to the zoo were out.
Stew woke up around 11:30 and when I heard him get up, I went upstairs and we took care of some budget stuff. Paid another $1000 to the roof. Can't wait until that bill is gone.
We looked at the NASCAR standings. It looks like Kahne will be in the chase unless something astronomical happens.
Stew did his hockey stuff while I got in the shower. I suggested we have a pajama day, but Stew wanted to go to Best Buy to get the new Madden game and during this conversation he gave me the gag worthy moment of the day. The conversation went like this:
S: I want to go to Best Buy to get myself something. I want the new Madden.
G: Good, I wish you'd spend more money on you. I'd feel less guilty about the money I spend.
S: Yeah, I don't spend a lot of money. I don't need much. I just need you.
G: GAG
While I was finishing up getting ready, Stew called Dad to talk about plans to spend a week at the beach next summer and going up to mom and dad's for the opening day of football. The Eagles play at 1 and the Steelers at 8, so we'll go watch the Eagles, grab some food and be home in time for the other game. This reminds me that I still need to sign up for pick em and survivor - must remember to do this as the first game is on Wednesday!
We then headed down to White Marsh and the rain came. I'm glad we both had umbrellas.
On the way down, we saw this tow truck and Stew said, "I'm going to hell." I said, "Why?" He tells me that he sees the Jesus tow truck. Or, if the driver is Latino the "hey-zeus" truck. My goodness the things that go on in that man's head.
We stopped at Ledo's Pizza for lunch. Neither of us had been there before so we thought we'd check it out. Turns out, we really could have passed it by. I wasn't impressed with their pizza cracker and Stew has had better chicken parm, elsewhere.
It was funny while we were there though, listening to Stew read the closed captioning on the Orioles game. We don't know what was going on with it. Stew likened it to someone laying their head down on the keyboard. Made for some interesting reading.
We went to Best Buy where Stew picked up the new Madden game - he's excited about this because they've gotten rid of all of the "owner" kind of things like setting ticket prices and that stuff - so now it's just all about players. At least that's what I understand about it. He also got a new razor. I got more ink for my photo printer (can never run out of that, ever!) and I got a new mouse for the computer in my craft room. Frank had bought Dad a mouse for father's day - it was a ball mouse that was wireless. Color me jealous - I really wanted one, so one I did get. Isn't it purdy? No more cords on my desk!
Headed home after Best Buy and did something that we don't often do - we actually cleaned up the house. Wow! Stew took care of the dishes and took all of the laundry downstairs while I cleaned the upstairs. Now this week all that's left is dusting, vacuuming and the downstairs. Not too bad. It'll be good to wake up tomorrow to an almost clean house.
Stew had a draft for the Barbecue football league tonight. This is the draft that my brothers Shawn and Phill are in. I texted them both earlier in the day to remind them of the draft - Phill said he remembered and he was ready! Boys take this stuff so seriously. Shawn's first pick of the draft was Ray Rice. He's a self admitted homer! According to Stew, Phill picked up some good wide receivers but not so good on the quarterback front - I guess we'll see how it all turns out.
While Stew was doing his draft stuff, I got some work work done and then Shawn called.
We're getting ready to go visit them next weekend! YAY! I got to talk to SMP. She was doing homework, which really means that she was writing her numbers and letters in this workbook that they bought for her. She just went in her room, picked it up, took it to the dining room table and started doing her "homework." Shawn said that she's a four year old adult. She goes in her room, shuts the door and plays. He says that she doesn't need them for anything. She's independent and she's very good at taking care of EAP, though they do tend to still fight sometimes, it's getting less. Shawn says only five minutes now for every 30. HA! She's been swimming a lot in Ms. Candy's pool and EAP's been going in the pool too though he doesn't like it very much. She got a flat tire on her bike and daddy fixed it. She said, "he's a very good soldier and a very good handy manny." Too funny! I can't wait to see them. I miss them a lot.
Stew and I ended the night with CSI:NY and WaWa (which he went to get while I was on the phone with Shawn). I don't mind watching television when we've done other things during the day. I just hate it when it seems like watching tv is all we do, so we're getting better about that. I set the alarm on my phone for 11 so that I could be in bed before my mandated midnight time. An episode ended at 10:15 and though we could have squeezed in another one, we decided to head to bed.
I washed my face and stuff while Stew worked on his pushups. He's up to 45 now for the month. I need to make a chart for us to keep track of these things. I did drink my 64 ounces of water today, though I didn't start until like 6PM. That's a lot of water to drink in 5 hours and by the time I took the last sip at 11, I was over water completely. I really need to start earlier in the day.
Stew and I went through the book descriptions for the free books he's sent to my Kindle. Since we're behind on this, I needed a way to figure our which descriptions we've read and which ones I've decided that I may way to read, so I made a category on my Kindle to file the books in. Stew found the name of it pretty funny:
Tomorrow, it's back to work, back to the grind. HAHA. I have a lot of work to get done, so it's good that I'm getting to bed now.

A surprising picture of all the nieces and nephews. Except for the fact that MNP isn't smiling and GEP has his usual silly face - they all are looking at the camera, which I consider a huge success.

Journal: May 12, 2012
Well, the day didn't turn out at all like I had planned.
I woke up and made PEM, PAM, and Amber's birthday cards as well as a mother's day card for mom for tomorrow. I hate that I wait until the last minute for these things, but honestly, if it wasn't for the last minute, I don't think that I would get anything done. One thing I did realize as I was working on the cards is that my stamp organization system has failed me - I couldn't find what I needed. I'm going to have to revisit this at another time.
I was taking pictures of the cards when Stew got up and came down. He told me he had bad news. I thought seriously that something had happened to one of my brothers. No. It turns out that my father died last night. Now, I haven't seen the man in many, many years so I'm not quite sure what I'm feeling or thinking. I talked to Shawn and Phill and they both said the same thing as I did. You're sad that your father is dead, but then you think about the type of man he was and what he did to you and your mom and you just can't feel that broken up about it. I don't know. I was affected more by it than I ever thought I would be. There was this sick feeling in my stomach and I just felt lost really in a weird way. I knew after I heard that I just wanted to be with my family. Stew called and told Chuck that we wouldn't make the birthday party which made me sad because I haven't seen them in so long, but I just wasn't feeling like myself after hearing the news - so I made plans to hang out with Phill, GEP and Christina. I just really want to be with my family.
I talked to Shawn. He'll be home for sure on 6/12 - I'm so excited. That's a month away. I can't wait to see him, Meli and SMP and EAP. I told Shawn about Sam being stationed at Fort Knox - he's going to hook up with him, which I think is awesome.
My EAP said hi to me and then his dad was torturing him telling him to go back to sleep and he kept telling his dad, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo." Cars is his favorite movie right now and The Smurfs is SMP's favorite movie. Shawn said that they're on constant rotation at the house.
Meli and Shawn call SMP the little lawyer since she's always bargaining for something and she's now hit the Why phase. To everything everyone says, she says why.
I don't know if I journaled it correctly the last time but her version of the Pledge of Allegiance was "with libery and just a frog." Too cute.
Shawn and I talked about the Orioles winning. He says it's the cartoon bird. He also said that they are the minor league affiliate for other teams. They bring these guys up, they show promise, the O's won't pay them an so they go to other teams. I definitely see that.
I talked to SMP and she told me that her bike is on its way to America and she told Stew that her mom said that she can swim all day long in America. She's cute - though Shawn says that she's bad. He'll get them both seated for dinner, walk into the kitchen and come back and EAP is eating with a Tinkerbell spoon because SMP took EAP's car spoon away from him.
After I talked to Shawn, I talked to Nick for awhile. I really don't have much to say there.
Then Stew made me breakfast - bagel with cream cheese. Damn him, I could have gone my whole life without knowing how much I liked this totally bad for me thing.
We then headed down to Phill and Christina's. Today is our five year wedding anniversary. It really does seem like just yesterday.
GEP had news for me, or more his mother had funny stories about him to share with me - he was at baseball, climbing the fence and shaking his butt at everyone; he put Molly in a wheel barrow, he touched a snake and he's got his first loose tooth. It's an exciting time for him.
Stew found me the other box of candy I wanted. Mike and Ike's are running a campaign where they have scratched one of the names off of some of the boxes and the other name off of other boxes. Stew got me Mike's a few weeks ago and today he found me Ike's. He's awesome.
Phill told me about talking to SMP. He asked her if she was giving her parents a hard time and she said, "yes." At least she's truthful.
The reason Stew had to go to the store was because Phill's sour cream was bad. I asked how anyone could tell when sour cream was bad. Phill said, "when it's grown mold, it's bad." Yeah, good point.
GEP showed me his bottle cap collection. He started collecting them for a friend of his but then he decided that collecting them was cool so he started keeping them for himself.
GEP also showed great skill at the hula hoop and even Phill gave it a try. We tried to get Stew to do it, but he only swung it around his arm - party pooper.
We got crabs from a new place today since Salty Dogs didn't have any. It was Capt Jim's Crabs in Bowley's Quarters - the crabs were tasty but they use red pepper flakes in their seasoning. It was the first time ever Phill and I washed off our crabs.
Phill also made hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill.
GEP and Stew spent time playing Foosball and of course GEP was making up his own rules.
It was a good day even if it wasn't the day we had planned. We'll have to see about setting something up with Amber and Chuck to see them and the girls.
Tomorrow we're off to Jersey to celebrate Mother's Day.
OH how could I forget - my GEP has his first loose tooth. He's very excited about the Tooth Fairy coming to visit!

Journal, January 10, 2012
Ten days into this month and I still just typed 2011.
I forgot to journal about the most important news I heard on Saturday. Shawn is coming back to the States (officially either in June or October depending on orders; he'll be in Georgia for training July through September). I was up late Saturday night unable to sleep when facebook told me that Shawn had posted a comment on one of my pictures. I never have the chat feature enabled, so I messaged him to see if he was there and yay! He was. He told me the best news I could have heard. It will be so good to have him so close again, where visiting is easy. I miss my two little ones. Speaking of them, it seems that SMP is having some issues adjusting to her role as a big sister. She thinks it's unfair that she has a little brother and walks around the house saying, "I don't like the EAP." I know she'll get over it; I have some experience in this matter, but it sure is funny to hear. Shawn describes EAP as a knuckledragger, much to my chagrin. Shawn says, "EAP walks around the house grunting and beating the hell out of stuff."
I spent almost the entire day on Tuesday in my craft room working on some projects, in between taking care of Stew, of course. Now that he only needs to cover one part of his right hand, his bandage changes are much easier. He actually brushed his teeth on his own today with no help from me - I'm not getting the evil eye from his therapist again! He spent the day watching movies and playing Madden while keeping up with all of the news of the sports world. He watched Cowboys vs. Aliens - which he said was okay, but kind of dumb. He said, "What do you expect from a movie with that name?" Yeah, he has a point there. He watched The Expendables - he didn't tell me what he thought of that one. He played Madden 12 - he's not really happy with the franchise function because he doesn't want to set ticket and hot dog prices; he just wants to play football. Even so, he didn't have much trouble playing - though he only used the normal Wii remote as we haven't figured the joystick one out yet. He annihilated whatever team his team was playing. I think he enjoyed the game.
With keeping his bandages off, most of his affected area is drying out. I'm going to take some follow up pictures from the ones I posted last week - the change in his hands is incredible.
