Howdie Family and Friends - here are the going ons in the life of me. Stew shows up frequently. My family and friends visit a lot. My nieces and nephews are represented throughout. It's all about me and how I'm traveling along in this thing I call my life.

Journal, March 3, 2012

All those plans I was thinking about for this weekend in Cincy aren't going to happen.  The weather outside is fierce.  The wind and the rain.  I'm just hunkering down in my hotel room.  I spent the day finishing The Darkest Seduction.  Will post a full review at some point, but for now, the book is a C- at best.  I watched the Nationwide Race.  And that's about it.  Wish I wasn't so scared to start a fire.  I told Stew if he was here I'd have him start a fire - then we both laughed at the irony of that statement.  Oh well, I'm too chicken to do it myself, but a fire right now would be grand.  Boring day in the hotel.  Starting to feel really down - I want to go home.  I'm enjoying the company and the people, but I'm starting to get really home sick.

My home away from home.  26 Feb 2012 through 09 Mar 2012.  Long time to be away from home.  Feeling homesick.  I found it hysterical that I was in room 9-1-1.  I have emergency written all over me.  HA!

Journal, March 2, 2012

Started the day putting on some of my new clothes and feeling good.  I always feel better when I dress in clothes I really like.  Even though I'm far above the weight I want to be, nice clothes, hair done and everything like that makes me feel like I can tackle anything.  Going to get the eating right/exercising thing together once I get home, right now, just trying not to go nuts.  Though today....Cheesecake factory for lunch, yeah anyway.

Had the Friday morning meeting.  Clinical meets on Monday, the whole company gets together for company wide updates on Friday mornings - it's nice to stay in the loop as to what other departments are doing.  Today was my last day of meet and greets.  Next week we start my actual role training.  I'm excited to get started doing that.

Went out with two of the "younger" CRAs today for lunch.  These girls are hilarious.  I'm just loving everyone here still.  I mean, today there were a few things mentioned that makes it obvious that at all companies there are things that are good and things that could be better.  Still, nothing I'm hearing is the negativity I've felt in the past, so I'm glad about that.

As I said, it was Cheesecake factory for lunch.  It's a damn good thing there isn't one of these very close to us.

Peanut Butter cup cheesecake - take my breath away it was so good.  I had a really small lunch, so I'm going to say that it was okay that I ate this whole slice of cheesecake.

Actually was sent home from work today.  Tornado warnings are hitting the area pretty hard and from what I can tell from the wind, there's some really fierce weather going on outside.  My manager said that there was a window of clearing for me to get back to the hotel so I took it.  A lot of people who live further away were going to stay at the office until it stopped.  We don't have much in the way of natural disasters back home so this was something new to me.  I mean during my tour on Monday, two people pointed out the tornado evacuation route and the procedures for what to do.  Scary stuff.  I hope it's not too bad.  I avoid the news so I'll just have to see on Monday.

It's a really good thing now, that we decided that Stew wouldn't come.  I don't think he would have been able to get here anyway.  I'm going to spend the evening trying my damnedest to get through this book.  Hopefully, I'll finish it.  It's just still not pulling me in.  I loved Paris in the other books but in this one, he just doesn't seem like the same character.  Maybe I built this up too much or something - I'm not sure, but to say it's a disappointment so far is an understatement.

Off to work, looking sexy.  LOL.

Fast Fact Friday

1.  Where is your favorite repeated vacation place?
Disney World (But I bet if Stew and I went to Jamaica again it would be my repeated vacation place!)

2.  How long do you like to go on vacation?
The longer the better

3.  Where did you go on your favorite vacation?
Jamaica

4.  Where was your most recent vacation?

Stew and I spent a week in LBI in November.

5.  If money were no object, where would you like to go?

I'd have to add not only is money no object, but time was no issue, I'd love to go on a multiple month cruise - the Mediterranean Sea.  See all of the Europen countries, Egypt. That would be a blast.

Journal, March 1, 2012

Not a lot to say about today.  Continuing my orientation schedule.  It's still going great.  Didn't have as many meet and greets today.  Spent a lot of time reading SOPs.  Did have lunch at a pretty neat restaurant with the "rogue CRA" and was late getting back we had such a good time talking.  It was great to get to sit and talk with someone more in depth about how the CRA role differs here than what I've been used to in the past.  Add in the fact that she's just hilarious - it was a good time.

We went to The Cactus Pear for lunch.  Very Tex Mex sort of place.  Could have really gone for a Margarita - but we were you know, having to go back to the office.  LOL.  In fact, before we left the manager told us no Margaritas.  Too funny.  The food was delicious.  There's so many good places to eat here.  I can't wait to bring Stew - unfortunately, it won't be this weekend.  We just thought with the drive to and from the airport (I'm a Southwest girl so you know I'm flying into Columbus and not Cincy) we'd have a limited amount of time, so he's going to stay home and I think I'll find something to do.  Maybe the zoo or something depending on the weather.

Here's some pictures of the restaurant that I pulled from yelp.com.  I didn't want to pull out my camera every minute to take pictures - my new coworkers don't know me that well yet to find out how big of a dork I am.  LOL.  Thank goodness for the internet.

Off to watch this Auction Hunter marathon before going to bed.  Still trying to get myself through this book.  It's not easy going.

Saw this on a car in the parking lot - someone strapped a GI Joe army man to the antenna of car.  Awesome!
